Transition Steering Group Meeting: Monday 7 April, 7:30pm at Great Expectations Pub, London Street

Business meeting where we look at our communications, review finances and funding and looking at how we can be more effective as a group. We don’t really look at specific projects in this meeting, so not the most interesting for first timers. Targeted at steering group members but open to everyone.

Repair Cafe at Amersham Road Community Day: Sunday 13 April, 2pm – 6pm

This month’s Repair Cafe will be on tour! Rather than a regular town centre location, we will be attending Amersham Road Community Day , which will include kids’ activities (craft, Easter Egg hunt, dance), a free yoga / relaxation workshop, stalls, international food tasting, family photos and more. Why not pop along, or if you fancy volunteering, email info@transitionreading.org.uk for more information.

Reading Food Growing Network: Seed Swap and Website Launch: Saturday 5 April, 12 noon – 2pm.

Organised by Reading Food Growing Network to support individuals and community groups interested in food growing. The event is free and open to all, with refreshments. To find out more, email rfgn@risc.org.uk or go to http://readingfoodgrowingnetwork.weebly.com/

Update on Community Orchards

Due to flooding, the ground was not suitable for orchard planting this February and March, when the trees needed to be planted. Therefore we have teamed up with the Ways and Means Trust (who provide training and employment to adults with learning disabilities), who are hosting the trees until next year when some may stay there and / or be replanted in more openly accessible places. Thanks to the Ways and Means Trust for working with us on this, and to Richard for ensuring the trees could be planted this year!
