Discussion on Future of Transition Town Reading, Monday 15 February, 7.30pm, RISC Room 1
Our steering group meeting this month is replaced by an open discussion on the future of Transition Town Reading. We have on-going successful projects but numbers at meetings over the past year have been low. This will be a chance to discuss how Transition Town Reading can move forward over the coming year, how we can expand our meetings to more people and any possible new projects or initiatives. If you have any ideas or are interested in the future of Transition then please come along.
For February we are taking Repair Cafe to South Reading for a one-off special! It’s going to be at Whitley Community Cafe, 252 Northumberland Ave, Reading RG2 7QA on**Saturday 20th**.
We might be slightly smaller than usual depending on the space available, though we are still planning on doing our usual range of repairs! So bring along your broken items to be re-cycled, refreshed and refurbished! Christmas presents broken already?? Bring them down! Also if you have your own creative project (e.g. sewing, knitting, Raspberry Pi) you’re welcome to bring them along to work on!
Sewing, clothing and fabrics
In fact, if it’s broken, bring it along and our team of ready repairers will give it a go!
Everything is free but donations are very welcome to help keep Repair Cafe going!
Reading Green Fest is a part of this year’s Reading Water Fest. It aims to celebrate the green and environmental groups in Reading and get people engaged in environmental issues! The event will be on Saturday 11 June, 11am to 5pm in the town centre. There is planned to be a day of workshops and stalls from local green and environmental community groups and charities.
The website is in progress: www.readinggreenfest.co.uk
We are having a planning meeting to discuss the event including the program of workshops, stalls and general organisational items. If you’re interested in being involved in the day – either helping to run the event or have a stall/workshop – then please come along at 7.30pm on Tuesday 23 February, Great Expectations pub library room (left hand side as you go in).
Permaculture is one of the founding principles of Transition and we encourage as many people as possible to attend this course! Here are the details:
Before we can “save the world” we have to save ourselves. Well we have to at least start with ourselves because that is the part of the universe we have the greatest control and influence over!
Led by Steve Jones from Sector 39, these 2 days, at RISC are designed to be the start of your permaculture journey. Packed with information, new ideas and rich with opportunity to develop your own thinking and personal goals.
This 2 day event is part of a build up to a full Permaculture Design Course in Reading commencing January 2017 (6 full weekends at RISC and one optional extra weekend/ field trip to Mid Wales)
Advance booking is essential for this event, min one month. For more information including how to book, go to http://www.
